Business Analyst, Customer Insight at TripIt in San Francisco, CA

The Business Analyst, Customer Insight is responsible for customer segmentation, insight and analysis, tracking key business metrics for customer behavior, performance, product pricing and value. The ideal candidate will be someone who can effectively use SQL to pull data, think critically and creatively about what it means and communicate effectively with actionable recommendations. We’re looking for someone who is excited about solving consumer problems and wants to build something great.

This is a terrific opportunity to be part of a small team. As a result, you’ll need to wear many hats, so flexibility and a can-do attitude are essential. In addition to being extremely analytical, you must be a creative thinker, a doer and easy to work with.

Experience in typical performance metrics of online consumer business is strongly preferred. Oh, and it helps if you are passionate about travel.

This position reports to the VP Product.

Responsibilities

• Identify and measure key performance metrics and trigger points for consumer behavior (user growth, dropoff points, conversion, revenue, engagement, churn, etc.)
• Develop a customer intelligence and tracking framework, including customer segmentation, channel trending, behavior model and identify key trigger points
• Develop and maintain complex models with data extracted from various database sources
• Define business and technical requirements for internal and 3rd party customer and data analysis tools
• Enhance pricing model and revenue forecasting, including testing alternate price and offer strategies
• Perform ad hoc business analysis
• Present analysis and recommendations to Executive Team

Required Skills / Experience

• At least 5 years prior business experience, experience with subscription-based revenue models a plus
• Familiarity with metrics for online businesses (user acquisition, clickstream analysis, marketing efficiency, consumer lifecycle, etc.)
• Experience developing customer segmentation frameworks
• Strong analytical skills, including customer lifetime value, revenue forecasting, marketing program performance, a/b testing and pricing strategy
• Ability to write SQL queries and build reports
• Experience identifying product specifications and working with cross-functional teams including engineering, marketing, business development and other functional groups
• Previous experience with web analytics packages a plus (e.g., Omniture, Google Analytics, etc.)
• Previous experience with business reporting tools (e.g., Crystal, Birt, etc.)
• Demonstrated ability to perform complex analysis
• Excellent communication skills
• Must be highly organized, even in a rapidly evolving environment
