Description

The team of highly experienced and creative engineers at TripIt have built an application unlike any that have come before it in the online travel space. It is now time for TripIt to take it to the next level, and to do that we need you. If you are the type of engineer that is driven by the challenge of solving unique and challenging problems in a dynamic, fast growing, and customer-focused environment then TripIt is the place for you.  In this position you would work alongside an experienced team of engineers who have already built out support for over 500 different travel vendors. 

Responsibilities

This position will have you working on maintaining and expanding vendor support for TripIt's core patent pending email parsing technology. You must be passionate about new technologies and solving difficult technical problems, have a good sense of product design, have solid development habits (e.g. unit testing, technical design documentation, etc...), some experience with backend web technologies, and are not afraid to dive into new and unfamiliar technologies. 

Required Skills / Experience

• At least 1 year of prior software development or similar experience
• Strong command of and experience using pattern matching technologies such as regular expressions
• Understanding of web and web-related technologies
• Server-side application development in Python, PHP, Perl, or Ruby
• Familiarity with XML and XML Schema
• Solid development habits and practices
• Natural problem-solver and troubleshooter
• Comfortable working in a GNU Linux/Unix environment
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)At least 3 years prior product management experience, preferably with an online consumer business
