We are looking for someone who isn’t your typical ad sales person to build TripIt’s advertising business. You don’t need to drive a fancy car or impress us with your golf handicap, but you do need to be able to close deals. You’ll also have the unique opportunity to help shape the strategy of this line of business and the team needed to realize it. Ad sales at TripIt is focused on the basics – on-site banners and sponsorships, email newsletters, and our mobile applications. The pitch is pretty straightforward, but we need someone who can make a lot of outbound calls, navigate their way to decision makers, deliver solid pitches, and then follow through to get the deal signed. TripIt has a highly sought-after audience with a concentration in high-income, high-frequency business travelers. And we have an incredibly rich set of data against which to target campaigns for our sponsors. With these assets behind you, you should be able to work with little supervision to generate ad revenue.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to definition of ad products – inventory, targeting, pricing, etc.
- Identify and contact sales prospects
- Deliver sales presentations
- Negotiate and close sales contracts
- Manage clients and obtain renewal business
Required Skills / Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of sales experience, preferably with at least 2 years in online ad sales
- Strong track record with closing deals
- High comfort level with cold calling
- Understanding of ad serving technologies including targeting capabilities
- Excellent communication and organization skills
- Comfortable operating in a fast-changing environment
- Able to work with minimal supervision and sales support staff
